Liver Treats for Your Dog
Liver is a vitamin-rich protein that's safe for your dog to eat. It contains vitamin A, B vitamins, iron, copper, zinc, essential fatty acids, and more. Dogs love liver more than a processed dog-biscuit. Just ask Marianne’s dog, Kiva. “I gave her a baked liver treat and now, no matter where she is in the house when she hears me open the plastic bag I keep the liver in, she bounds into the kitchen. She never did that before. She loves her liver treats.”

  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 1 ounce of fresh liver per 10 pounds of body weight

Ingredients

Directions

Liver is a vitamin-rich protein that's safe for your dog to eat. It contains A, and B vitamins, iron, copper, zinc, essential fatty acids, and more. Liver cleanses the blood of toxins and supports healthy vision. It's also a nutrient boost for dogs that have been injured or sick.

One caution: Too much liver may be toxic to dogs because of its high vitamin A content so you have to feed with mix it with other healthy, non-commercial food.

Recipe

Set the oven at 350F.

Place strips of Miles Smith Farm liver (beef or pork) in a parchment-lined pan and add some dry herbs, but avoid using pepper or spicy herbs because they can damage your dog’s smell.

Cook for 25 minutes or until the liver is dry to the touch.

The liver will release juices, which you can pour over your dog’s dry food to make a yummy meal.

After the liver had cooled down, cut it into cubes.

Make sure it's cooled because If sliced while still warm, it can be gummy and sticky.

Don't overfeed - serve 1 oz of liver per 10 pounds of body weight.

You can cut the liver, place it into a zip bag, and then store it in a freezer. In this way, you can keep your dog’s favorite food for a couple of weeks.

Your dog will love you!
