Cheesy Beef Casserole

Ground beef is a versatile ingredient that will delight your taste buds. This cheesey ground beef casserole is delicious and easy to make. It's one of my favorites.

Ingredients
- (1) Grain Finished Ground Beef
- (1) small onion
- (2 whole or 1 teaspoon powder) Minced Garlic Cloves (or powder)
- (1 can (14.5 ounces)) Diced tomatoes (drained)
- (1 can (8 ounces)) Tomato sauce
- (1 teaspoon) Dried Oregano
- (1 teaspoon) Dried Basil
- (To taste) Salt and Pepper
- (2 cups) Cooked Pasta
- (1 cup) Shreded cheese
- (1/2 cup) Shreeded mozzarella cheese
Directions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onions are translucent.
- Add Tomatoes and Seasonings:
- Stir in the drained diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Combine with Pasta:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the ground beef mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
- Layer in the Casserole Dish:
- Transfer the pasta and beef mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Add Cheese:
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Follow with a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake:
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is golden brown on top.
- Serve:
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or basil if desired.
