Ham Steak is a fast, easy and delicious meal. This steak goes well with some buttered potatoes with parsley. and a vegetable. I made some cheesy broccoli to go with this dish.
1 Ham Steak from Miles Smith Farm
1 TBSP ham seasoning mix
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1/4 cup juice (Orange, apple cider) This can be from a fresh orange too!
2 TBSP coconut oil
Thaw ham steak. I usually think of this last minute and pull out a ham steak from the freezer. Put the steak in some cool water to thaw, package and all. It will take about 20 minutes. In the meantime, you can be getting ready the seasoning mix and veggies to go with the meal.
Once the steak is thawed, add the coconut oil to a skillet. Heat the skillet on med-high heat. Spread half the seasoning mix on one side of the steak. Add the steak to the prepared, hot skillet with the seasoning side down. Spread the other half of the seasoning to the top of the steak in the skillet. Add the juice to skillet. Simmer for a 5-10 minutes uncovered. The juice will start to condense and this is what brings on the carmelization and a tasty coating to the steak. Once the steak in browned on the bottom, flip. Move the steak around in the pan to collect the carmelization around the skillet. When this side in browned, the steak is done.
